How Paint Repair Works

Repair stone chips and scratches in four clear steps

With the Proteam Paint Repair System, you can repair minor paint damage without respraying a complete body panel. Below you can see the basic method. During our training, you learn the correct technique for different types of damage.

Step 1 — Clean and degrease

Clean the damaged surface carefully and make sure it is completely free of grease. This preparation is essential: dirt, wax, coating or grease can prevent the repair paint from bonding properly.

Step 2 — Select the correct colour

Depending on the set you choose, select the closest match to the existing paint from 35 or 70 premixed automotive paint colours. For approximately 95% of repairs, you will find a suitable colour immediately. Need a colour that is not included? We can supply virtually any automotive or RAL colour.

Step 3 — Apply the repair paint

Apply the repair paint to the damage in a controlled manner. The correct technique depends on the size, depth and shape of the stone chip or scratch. The paint dries quickly; the exact drying time depends on the amount of paint applied and the conditions.

Step 4 — Remove excess paint and finish

Remove excess paint using the supplied blending solution, by polishing or with a combination of both techniques. This lets you level and finish the repair carefully. During training, we cover both methods and teach you which finish is suitable for each type of damage.
